Dryer Repair in Hallandale Beach & Southeast Broward

A dryer that takes three cycles to finish one load isn't just annoying — it's burning electricity and, in the worst cases, building toward a lint fire. Norma Appliance Repair services dryers throughout Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, Dania Beach, and the surrounding southeast Broward area: full-size electric units in houses, gas dryers where buildings have gas, stacked laundry centers in condo closets, and the ventless condenser and heat-pump dryers that newer towers increasingly require. Licensed and insured, open 7 days, tiered warranty — parts up to 10 years on sealed-system welds, 2 years mechanical, 1 year electronics — and 90 days on labor.

Call (954) 775-8660 — most core-zone calls get a same-day or next-day slot.

Symptoms that mean it's time to call

Runs but no heat

Electric dryers: heating element, thermal fuse, or cycling thermostat. Gas units: igniter or gas valve coils. All routine, single-visit repairs in most cases.

Clothes take forever to dry

Half the time this is airflow, not the dryer — a lint-packed duct, a crushed transition hose, or a high-rise vent run that hasn't been cleaned in a decade. We diagnose the machine *and* the airflow path, because replacing parts won't fix a blocked duct.

Stops mid-cycle

Overheating triggering thermal cutoffs, worn drive motors, or moisture-sensor and control faults.

Loud squealing, thumping, or grinding

Drum rollers, idler pulleys, glides, and belts — the wear items of any dryer that runs daily.

Won't start at all

Door switches, thermal fuses, start switches, control boards.

Burning smell

Stop the machine and call. Lint where it shouldn't be, a seizing motor, or a slipping belt — none of these improve with another load.

Ventless dryer leaving clothes damp

Condenser units need clean condensers and working pumps; heat-pump dryers have their own refrigerant-side failure modes. Many techs won't touch them. We do.

How we handle a dryer call

1. Book at (954) 775-8660

Brand, symptom, stacked or freestanding, vented or ventless — thirty seconds of detail buys a faster repair.

2. Diagnosis you can see

We'll show you the failed part or the blocked airflow reading and put the price in writing. Call for current diagnostic pricing.

3. Repair from truck stock when possible

Elements, fuses, thermostats, belts, rollers, and door switches are common stock items.

4. Airflow check before we leave

A heat repair without an airflow check is half a job, so we don't do half-jobs.

5. Tiered warranty

on labor and installed parts.

Dryers in condo country

Most of our dryer work happens in buildings, and buildings change the physics:

  • Long vent runs. A dryer on the fifth floor may push air through 25+ feet of duct with multiple bends. Airflow drops, drying times stretch, lint accumulates, and thermal fuses start dying "for no reason." If your dryer eats a thermal fuse every few months, the duct is the suspect, not the fuse.
  • Ventless condenser and heat-pump dryers are standard in many newer Sunny Isles and Aventura towers where venting isn't an option. They're good machines that need different maintenance — condenser cleaning, pump checks, filter discipline — and a tech who actually knows the platform.
  • Stacked units put the dryer at the top, which means proper service requires safe unstacking and restacking in a tight closet. That's normal work for us.
  • Humidity. South Florida's ambient moisture makes marginal airflow problems obvious — symptoms that would hide in Arizona show up loudly here.

Brands we repair

LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, Maytag, GE, Bosch, Miele, Electrolux, Frigidaire, Kenmore, Speed Queen, Amana, and other major brands — electric, gas, vented, condenser, heat-pump, compact 24-inch, and stacked laundry centers.

Dryer safety and longevity, the short version

Dryers are the one appliance where maintenance is also fire prevention, so this list earns its place:

  • Clean the lint screen every load — and wash it with soap a few times a year if you use dryer sheets, which leave an airflow-killing film you can't see.
  • Get the duct cleaned periodically. In a single-family home, every couple of years; in a high-rise with a long run, ask the building when the line was last done. Lint in the duct is the number-one cause of both slow drying and dryer fires.
  • Never run a dryer with a missing or torn lint screen. Everything the screen would have caught goes straight into the heater housing.
  • Ventless owners: the condenser is your lint screen's big brother. It needs cleaning on the schedule in your manual — and in humid South Florida, err toward more often.
  • Watch the cycle time, not the machine's age. Drying time creeping upward is the earliest, cheapest warning you'll get. Call when it's a 20% problem, not a 200% one.

Frequently asked questions

My dryer heats but clothes are still damp after a full cycle. New dryer?

Probably not. That symptom is airflow until proven otherwise — lint in the duct, a kinked transition hose, or a long building vent run that needs cleaning. We test airflow as part of diagnosis so you don't pay for parts the dryer didn't need.

Is it safe to keep using a dryer that smells hot?

No. Shut it down and call (954) 775-8660. Lint contact with the heating element or a seizing motor are real fire risks, and dryer fires are exactly as bad as they sound — particularly in a multi-unit building.

Do you work on ventless and heat-pump dryers?

Yes. Condenser and heat-pump dryers are common in newer condo towers in our zone, and we service them regularly — including the condenser cleanings and pump repairs that keep them drying on schedule.

Why does my dryer keep blowing thermal fuses?

A thermal fuse is a smoke detector, not a wear item. Repeated failures mean heat isn't leaving the machine — almost always restricted exhaust. Replacing the fuse without fixing airflow just schedules the next breakdown.

Can you fix the dryer without unstacking my whole laundry closet?

Some repairs, yes; many require pulling the unit. Either way it's included in the job — we unstack, repair, level, and restack as part of normal service.
